The opening act on this double bill of long-form improv is The Diary Project, a series of vignettes that spring from and inspire diary entries read aloud. “Dear tetanus bacteria,” began one, “you’re an unwelcome houseguest.” In the headlining act, Cap & Gown Theatre Company’s Adventures in Comedy, the premise is that a group of friends gather to play Dungeons & Dragons but instead improvise, sort of following the role-playing game’s rules. These two playful efforts have an attractive kids-at-recess quality, but both ensembles struggle to locate or extend laughs. Only Laura Nosko–one of two people in both casts–has the committed, complex oddness needed to keep the evening unpredictable. Through 8/25: late Fri 12:15 AM, $5-$10.
