British playwright Joe Penhall’s 2000 play asks whether a disenfranchised citizen’s eccentric behavior indicates mental illness requiring hospitalization or merely his response to a stressful environment. The two doctors assigned to the case are divided in their opinions. Their articulate arguments could easily be reduced to a talking-heads symposium, but their motives are ambiguous. Jessica Jackson’s direction for Actors Revolution Theatre keeps the conflict provocative with swiftly paced repartee, creating a dynamic that crackles with energy. –Mary Shen Barnidge a Through 1/20: Thu-Fri 8:30 PM, Sat 8 PM, Sun 3:30 PM, Sat 12/23, 3:30 PM only, no show Sun 12/24, Victory Gardens Greenhouse Theater, first-floor studio, 2257 N.
