“Photography became a universal language for shaping our own experience as aliens,” say the five Poles-turned-Chicagoans who make up the Polish-American Association of Photographers. An exhibit of their work–including this photo by Iwona Biedermann, titled Happiness of Dwayne Thomas–is up in the Congress Corridor Gallery of the Harold Washington Library Center, 400 S. State, through October 1. The artists–who also include Jerzy Szewcyk, Ben Maloleppszy, Andrzej Klocek, and Mark Dobrzycki–will be present at an opening reception Saturday from 1 to 4; regular gallery hours are 9 AM to 7 PM Mondays, 11 to 7 Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 9 to 5 Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Call 747-4169 or 747-4130 for information.
