Mary Ellen Croteau says that through her artwork she attempts to address misogyny and sexism in a humorous way. Her solo show Slight Alterations includes this installation of underwear through the ages, which Croteau hopes will make viewers wonder “What if men bound themselves the way women do?” There are also three other works, including a series of books with manipulated images of women and men and “latex fantasies,” products Croteau says she’d like to see on the market (example: penises wrapped like cigars with It’s a Boy tags). The show opens at Artemisia, 700 N. Carpenter, with a reception from 5 to 8 Friday night, and runs until November 1. Gallery hours are 11 to 5 Tuesday through Saturday.
