“Telling the Story: Pictures From 20 Years of the Chicago Reader,” an exhibit opening today at the American Center for Design Gallery, features 39 photographs by 18 photographers whose work has appeared over the years in Chicago Reader. The pictures in the show–ranging from the cover photo of volume one, number one, to a 1990 shot by Lloyd De Grane, and including this one of a first communion, taken in May of 1981 by Mike Tappin–are hung along with reproductions of the pages on which they appeared. The gallery, at 233 W. Ontario, suite 500, is open 9 to 5, Monday through Friday, and the show runs through August 31.
