Artist Jana Sterbak is perhaps best known for sewing a dress out of 50 pounds of flank steak–a graphic satire on human vanity. The Czech-Canadian Sterbak continues to juxtapose incongruous materials–like a rock and the straps

of a backpack–to make darkly comic statements. Sisyphus Sport brings to mind the overachieving types who climb mountains just because they’re there. Younger viewers might only be reminded of the schoolwork they lug home every day. Sterbak will talk about her work at 6 this Wednesday at the Museum of Contemporary Art, 220 E. Chicago; admission is $10, $8 for students. A major exhibition of her art opens at the museum next Saturday, October 10. Call 312-397-4010 for information.
