In Jonathan Marc Sherman’s witty but contrived comedy, a cloistered Harvard grad student–so illiterate in pop culture he’s never seen Star Wars or Sesame Street–becomes an “untainted” new talent in Hollywood. Encouraged by his girlfriend’s speed freak brother, he pitches a TV series about Darwin and evolution–and ends up writing a hit sitcom about Adam and Eve (“first boy meets first girl”). Sherman’s dialogue is clever, as is MOB Productions’ staging, which frames the action with a tower of television screens and introduces scenes with the “chung chung” sound cue from Law & Order. But the play’s shallow satiric premise (commercial TV is dumb–duh!) would be better suited to a short sketch than a 90-minute one-act. –Albert Williams a Through 9/16: Thu-Sat 8:30 PM, Sun 3:30 PM, Victory Gardens Greenhouse Theater, 2257 N.
