The world’s worst policeman stumbles upon the least competent cover-up ever in Logan Brown and Matthew Benjamin’s dizzily implausible thriller. From the moment the action opens–two buddies get pulled over in the middle of Nevada in the middle of the night–the script strains to convey that things onstage aren’t what they seem. But since none of the math in this fictive world works out–down to the smallest gesture–clues disappear in a blizzard of bad-faith plot moves, and the eventual truth of the situation rings as false as the fibs previously concealing it. The fresh-faced, appealing Open Cage Ensemble cast doesn’t stand a chance against such thoroughly counterfeit material. –Brian Nemtusak a Through 4/7: Thu-Fri 8 PM, Sat 8 and 10:30 PM, Angel Island, 735 W.
