Jo!. I may not know much about the sensationally scandalous Josephine Baker, but after seeing Michelle Banks’s 25-minute singing-and-dancing encyclopedia entry, I feel I know even less. Perhaps she hopes to pay tribute to an artistic pioneer in this sketchy rags-to-riches saga, but it devolves into an excuse to belt out a few spirituals and beat even fewer dance steps into the ground.
