Verdi’s ever-popular weeper is the Grant Park Festival’s latest crowd-pleasing collaboration between the Lyric Opera Center for American Artists and the Grant Park Symphony Orchestra. A naturally gifted soprano who can also act, Juliana Rambaldi last year proved to be a stunner in Bruce Saylor’s Orpheus Descending. She’s ideally suited for the part of Violetta, and it’ll be interesting to see if she has the stuff that made Maria Callas’s traversal of the role so riveting. Each performance is preceded by a talk about Verdi and the opera by Lyric Opera lecturer Alfredo Glasser. Friday and Sunday, 8 PM, Petrillo Music Shell, Grant Park, Columbus and Jackson; 819-0614.
