In the 1980s and early ’90s, Donna Blue Lachman’s riotous adventures provided the material for monologues that made her one of the most prominent solo artists in town. But in recent years she’s been living a quieter life in Michigan. Her latest show, unlike her earlier work, doesn’t take breathless global and spiritual journeys–from Haiti to Poland, from ashrams to sweat lodges. Instead she offers a rueful, witty contemplation of what makes life worthwhile in the face of midlife losses; it’s honest without being jaded. The gardening metaphors get a little strained sometimes, but Lachman’s celebration of compost as “rotting and fertile at the same time” captures the beautiful paradox of life on the downward slope. a Through 4/1: Thu-Fri 8 PM, Sat 8:30 PM, Sun 3 PM, Victory Gardens Greenhouse Theater, 2257 N.
