If you’d asked me before I saw this show whether Bush-hate porn was played out, I might’ve said yes. But as it happens, there’s plenty more to say about G. Dub: He doesn’t have avian flu! He’s not exactly like Hitler! He’s an excellent passenger in cars. And, he can walk! Ladling blankly sarcastic praise on our 43rd president, the top-notch Annoyance ensemble–led by Josh Walker and Kyle Dolan of the late, lamented Teenage Sports Parade–devote Stepford-esque song-and-dance numbers to each of these verities and more. From director Mick Napier’s precisely fucked-up choreography to composer Lisa McQueen’s razed-brain paeans to the Decider, a focused surreality holds this compendium of bogus cheer tightly together, bleeding pitch-black hilarity back into our long, long national joke. The show, along with three others, inaugurates Annoyance Productions’ long-awaited new digs–a handsome space with a bar and everything–located in a freshly rehabbed building just a few doors north of the still-shuttered Uptown Theatre. Open run: Fri-Sat 8 PM, Annoyance Theatre, 4840 N. Broadway, 773-561-4665, $15.
