The Journeymen Theater Company presents its annual Christmas show, a blackly comic Behind the Music-style look at some sordid goings-on up at the north pole. The first time I saw this it seemed too mean-spirited to be funny, but Jeff Goode’s writing is about shock value from start to finish: I now suspect only a ferociously humorless attack could uncover many laughs in the material. Some of the actors adopt the fierce approach to good effect and some don’t–but the whole team is harnessed to flabby soliloquies that’re all too long by half. Through 12/23: Fri-Sat 11:30 PM, Sun 7:30 PM, Theatre Building Chicago, 1225 W. Belmont, 773-327-5252, $20.
