Playwright-director Matt Fotis hangs his family out to dry in this semiautobiographical screwball sitcom. The younger of the Tyler sons, Marcus, tests the mettle of his intended by sending her to visit his wacky kinfolk by herself. He’s actually instructed his slacker brother to be obnoxious, we learn later, while the rest of the tribe are purportedly just being themselves. We tire of their antics before Marcus’s betrothed does in this Shantz Theatre production. An exception is Gary Saipe’s blustering grandfather, who dominates the action from his perch on the sofa, looking like a great malevolent owl. Through 5/27: Fri-Sat 8 PM, Sun 2 PM, Breadline Theatre, 1802 W. Berenice, 773-369-8566, $15-$20, mothers $5 Sun 5/14.
