The objects of Steve Scholz’s ridicule in this satirical one-man show are hardly original: motivational speakers, corporate flacks. He introduces us to a news reporter who continues to describe a shooting instead of assisting the victims, a school reunion attendee who laments her diminished glory, and various contenders in a reality-TV matchmaking contest. But Scholz’s knack for physical and vocal mannerisms (except when it comes to his female characters, who tend to sound the same) brings his targets alive. And though some sketches end happily–a rap artist deals with censorship by improvising a protest against it without violating its restrictions–all take an accurate measure of our culture’s shortcomings.
