The puppets, size-27 psychic waitress, and physically violent counselor for gay couples all suggest that playwright Jay Paul Deratany is aiming for absurdity. But this show’s unbelievable central story line and superficial characters rob it of any truth: Deratany consistently glosses over anything of substance to get to the next (occasionally funny) joke. Ryan is told he’ll make partner at his law firm if he marries. Too bad he’s on bickering-only terms with his male significant other. The partner position is sure to go instead to Ryan’s best friend, Mitch, when he marries Ryan’s sister. But then Mitch decides to sow his wild oats–with Ryan. Director Lee Peters and his cast do little to improve the script’s weak conflicts, pat reconciliations, and contrived resolution. Through 5/22: Thu 8 PM, Fri 9:15 PM, Sat 6 PM, Sun 5 PM.
