Vaginal Creme Davis is an LA drag queen who recites campy poetry, publishes a ‘zine called Fertile La Toya Jackson, and fronts a band called Pedro, Muriel and Esther. On a videotape I have he’s a well-muscled amazon extravagantly equipped with oversized womanly accoutrements who chants things like “I’m a sexy domin-ee-trix / I’ll beat you into submission / I want your seminal emissions” as a band decked out in bondage gear recites serviceable punk, blues, and rockabilly riffs behind him. To spice things up, Davis takes time to administer discipline to this or that tied-up ringer onstage as well. None of it is as outlandish as certain other bands touring the country who explore similar territory, like the Impotent Sea Snakes with their nudity, fires, and religious blasphemy or the Genitorturers, who offer onstage piercings and rather more realistic S&M for your viewing pleasure. On the other hand, no one in those bands has ever squirted milk out of a pair of enormous falsies and offered it up to audience members in a cup. Locals Chia Pet both perform an opening set and back Davis up, so I’m not sure how elaborate a show he’ll be giving. He’ll also be reading his poetry Saturday at 7 at Bookseller’s Row, 1520 N. Milwaukee, and premiering the first video issue of his ‘zine. Friday, Czar Bar, 1814 W. Division; 772-5453
