Behind-the-(bacon)-scenes of our Bacon Noir for Baconfest Chicago

We teamed up with Yellow Wing Productions and MK Films
to produce a “bacon noir” that would pay homage to our city, Chicago’s favorite cured meat, and the festival that brings them together:
Baconfest Chicago. What came to be is an epic story of bacon infiltrating every day life,
featuring cameo performances by Baconfest chefs and other Chicago characters.
This short film, Directed by Ky Dickens, is based on the principles of the Bacon Manifesto
(yeah, that’s real), and it produced quite a few memorable moments:

Throwing pounds upon pounds of bacon onto a parked car in this “bacon rain” scene with Chef Chris Pandel (The Bristol). Our hands smelled like bacon for days.
Meeting our new friend Mark in Bridgeport, who recited his favorite Reader classified from 1979.
Bacon prop pieces getting devoured by pigeons at the State/Lake el with Chef Patrick Sheerin (Signature Room).
Bracing ourselves against a particularly chilly and windy day with Chef Stephanie Izard (Girl and the Goat).
Dodging a gaggle of curious tweens at the Bean with Chef Rick Gresh (David Burke’s Primehouse) and Saam Hagshenas (guitarist from Hey Champ).
Shooting under a freight truck while actor Tim Mason (2nd City) spewed lines from the
Bacon Manifesto
