There is something conceptually weird about a bunch of tattooed young scenesters with hairstyles that probably don’t make sense to anyone over age 40 going wild to songs that were considered golden oldies before their parents even came of age. But that’s exactly the scene Thursday nights at Cobra Lounge, which usually revolves around considerably harder fare but once a week finds the likes of the Beach Boys, Tommy James, and the whole Motown roster blaring from its sound system. Then again songs from rock ‘n’ roll’s pre-acid days were all about shaking asses and making oblique dirty talk, just the same as any good au courant club night.
