Bottom Lounge

1375 W. Lake

It doesn’t make you a bad person to admit that not every band at every show you’re going to see is going to be good. As long as there are bad bands with decent instincts for self-promotion and overextended talent buyers looking to fill gaps on a Wednesday-night bill in February, there are going to be opening acts you’ll want to miss. At most venues this means actually leaving, but the Bottom Lounge thankfully keeps its stage walled off from the rest of the club, so you can kill time till the bands you really want to see at a bar or, even better, with your hands on the buttons of one of the venue’s growing collection of pinball machines, including a cherry 1978 Bobby Orr’s Power Play. —Miles Raymer
