Tonight at Rumba (351 W. Hubbard) from 7 PM to midnight, the Hearts 4 Haiti Global Initiative will collect donations of cash, clothes, and bottled water at a party featuring local dignitaries, musical performances, and more. U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush, U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., State Sen. Kwame Raoul, and other pols will attend, Motown-influenced artist Yashi will perform, DJ Mack will spin Haitian music, and DJ Joe Kollage, Power 92.3 FM’s Tone and Shag, and others will play hip-hop and R&B. Describing itself as “an organization of young professionals,” Hearts 4 Haiti has so far raised more than $20,000 for earthquake victims. The requested minimum donation is $20, with all proceeds going to Doctors Without Borders and International Child Care.
