I first heard Blasted Canyons on last year’s Castle Face Group Flex compilation, which was a pretty amazing find for a record nerd like me—five seven-inch flexi discs bound together in a book, along with original artwork for each record. Castle Face specializes in jumpy garage rock, and the bands on those discs include Thee Oh Sees, Ty Segall, and the Fresh & Onlys. But Blasted Canyons’ tracks stood out with a fuzzed-out, droney take on the scene’s sound.
