• The cover of Living With the Ancients

Toronto four-piece Blood Ceremony, fronted by flutist, organist, and singer Alia O’Brien, open the Ghost show at Bottom Lounge tonight. (For more on Ghost, see Artist on Artist.) Their occult rock is a love letter to the hashish-and-virgin-sacrifice bands of the late 60s and early 70s, like Black Widow and Coven—an aesthetic decision that places them in pretty good company in 2012, alongside the likes of the Devil’s Blood and Jex Thoth/Sabbath Assembly. After the jump, listen to “Oliver Haddo,” from Blood Ceremony’s sophomore album, 2011’s Living With the Ancients (Metal Blade).
