It’s been nearly two years since footwork-slash-juke producer and Teklife member DJ Earl released the first in a planned series of follow-ups to his Audio Fixx full-length, but on February 11 he finally dropped the second volume. DJ Taye put out his Overdose on Teklife 2 album the very same day, and Earl tells me he decided to coordinate the release date of Audio Fixx 2 with Taye because the first albums in their respective series came out on the same day back in 2012.

Anyway, today’s 12 O’Clock Track is a cut off Audio Fixx 2 called “Faded,” which is one of the album’s 11 tracks that Earl made with frequent collaborator Heavee. “Faded” samples Juicy J’s contribution to B.o.B.’s “Still in This Bitch,” and the MC’s twangy rapping is chopped up and condensed to fit into Earl and Heavee’s rapid-paced, wobbly footwork track. Earl spins at the Chicago Cultural Center tomorrow at noon as part of the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events’ ongoing “Wired Fridays” series, which, as I’ve said before, is a great way to spend your lunchtime break. Prepare for Earl’s set by streaming “Faded” after the jump.
