Though I’ve been on the trail of Montreal’s Omegas for a bit now, I only recently bought their well-loved 2011 debut LP, Blasts of Lunacy (Parts Unknown), and I’ve been blaring its vintage NYC hardcore for much of the last month. The album lives between thrashy and stomping, nodding to 80s east-coast hardcore and sloppy punk rock ‘n’ roll—the latter particularly through the raging Darby Crash-style vocals.

Today’s 12 O’Clock Track is the title track from Blasts of Lunacy, a spit-in-your-face song that starts fierce and disjointed, then slows for a breakdown that drops the vocals, letting the tough guitar chug by itself as the song fades out. Cut the sleeves off your T-shirt and jump in the fray already.
