In April I wrote about the debut EP from Seattle four-piece Poor Moon, a group that includes two members of Fleet Foxes. Then as now it’s pretty hard to miss the similarities, particularly the way Christian Wargo and Casey Wescott replicate their main band’s gorgeous vocal harmonies in this junior project. The group recently released its self-titled debut album for Sub Pop, and the songs have greater stylistic range this time, while maintaining a laid-back, 70s-style soft-rock vibe a la Bread. Poor Moon have yet to emerge from the shadow of Robin Pecknold, but I’ve been enjoying their airbrushed psychedelia, pretty melodies, and of course lovely harmonizing. The band rolls into town on Thu 10/11, opening for Beach House at the Riviera. Today’s 12 O’Clock Track is “Birds,” after the jump.
