Last year ‘Spective Audio founder Nicholas Zettel introduced me to Atlanta pop-psych group the N.E.C., which he included on the Chicago vs. Atlanta psych-band compilation Vital Sound I. One highlight from the band’s 2011 sophomore album, Pineapple, is the dreamy “Creatures Flaming,” which glides gently along, its airy, reverb-soaked melody drizzled with faint guitar screeches.
