Today at 6 PM at the Chicago Cultural Center (77 E. Randolph, Preston Bradley Hall), artist Wendy Jacob and engineer Temple Grandin discuss their collaboration on the Squeeze Chair Project, a series of chairs designed to hug users based on the “squeeze machine” that Grandin, who’s autistic, created to calm her own sensitive nervous system. The conversation will touch on “the parallels between autism and animal cognition” and the role of design in ameliorating neurological conditions.
