Kids ages 6 to 12 will learn techniques for avoiding violence this Thursday at the “Safe Summer Initiative Youth Jam” hosted by the Westside Health Authority at Columbus Park (500 S. Central, Grove 4). The free event will also include a bicycle raffle, dancing, face painting, a magic show, and a hot dog lunch. West-side community leaders, including Commander Walter Green of the CPD’s 15th District and Alderman Sharon Dixon of the 24th Ward, will speak about local anti-violence initiatives.
