Free wine tastings are a common sight at middle-to-highbrow wine stores. Here are a few of this weekend’s opportunities to boost your culture score and your BAC at the same time:

Friday, September 12: The new Printers Row Wine Shop (719 S. Dearborn) offers two reds and two whites to taste from 6 to 9 PM, and Lush Wine and Spirits (1306 S. Halsted, 2232 W. Roscoe) has wines from the distributor Maverick from 6 to 8 PM. Warehouse Liquors (634 S. Wabash) offers several French wines and a German dessert wine from 5 to 8 PM. Up in Rogers Park Taste Food & Wine (1506 W. Jarvis) hosts its weekly tasting from 6 to 7:30 PM.

Saturday, September 13: The Wine Discount Center (1826 N. Elston), whose weekly tasting was the Reader‘s best of Chicago pick for best free weekly wine tasting, gets started early, offering ten wines to taste from noon to 4 PM. Just Grapes (560 W. Washington) offers wines from Pinnacle Wines from 2 to 4 PM, and In Fine Spirits (5418 N. Clark) offers Oregon wines from the Local Wine Company from 3 to 6 PM. Over in Lincoln Square, Fine Wine Brokers (4621 N. Lincoln) offers a tasting from 1 to 4 PM. In Logan Square, Provenance Food and Wine (2528 N. California) sets out a few California wines as well as an “incredible” 1989 German Riesling from 3 to 6 PM.

Sunday, September 14: From 2 to 5 PM, Lush’s location on Halsted hosts an oyster party with oyster-friendly wines to taste. The Roscoe Village location will also have a tasting (no oysters though).
