We last heard from Texas-based garage rockers OBN IIIs on last year’s LP Worth a Lot of Money (12XU), where they transitioned from punk frenzy into classic hard rock, ramping up the sleazy stomp and piling on the guitarmonies. Next month the band will release a new single, and its A side, “Rich Old White Men,” just hit the Web. This time around, Orville Bateman Neeley III and company push even further in this new direction, going full-on Thin Lizzy. Today’s 12 O’Clock Track, “Rich Old White Men,” sounds like a cut off 1980’s Chinatown—it’s an epic blast of bombastic guitars and street-tough vocals that ride along on a smooth gallop.

OBN IIIs play tomorrow night at the Empty Bottle with Mama and the Sueves as part of CIMMfest. Check them out if you have a chance—they’re real ragers live. You can hear “Rich Old White Man” below. This new vibe is a good one for the band.
