Kara Jesella, a former fashion-mag staffer and co-author of the book How Sassy Changed My Life, has a great piece in Salon today about Michelle Obama and her relationship to fashion. In summary: She likes it. It’s OK to like fashion. But because fashion is still so closely associated with women, society tends to devalue it as frivolous. Hopefully, this will change.

Another interesting point, from Karl Lagerfeld on Twitter (and it would seem to really be him): “Guilty feelings about clothes are totally unnecessary. A lot of people earn their living by making clothes, so you should never feel bad.”
