A conservative mourns the death of Marshall Field’s. Blogger Gail Heriot in San Diego linked to my January 12 Hot Type on the Sun-Times and Macy’s, and at the risk of looking shameless, I’m returning the favor. A former editor of the University of Chicago Law Review, Heriot teaches law at the University of San Diego, but at one time she was a Marshall Field’s sales clerk. So this is personal for her — she’s written about Field’s more than once.
Her blog also links to an essay described as the “best case for the surge.” Best case doesn’t necessarily mean a good one, but if you don’t think there’s one to be made, take a look.
