Tonight, the Japanese garage/psych band DMBQ (definitely not to be confused with NRBQ) play the Empty Bottle for the first time. This is their first full-scale U.S. tour since drummer Mana “China” Nishiura (who also played with Shonen Knife) was killed in a van accident on I-95 in Delaware on November 4, 2005. The band did tour the West Coast shortly after recovering from their injuries, being of the “he would have wanted it that way” school of grief management—which I tend to think is an effective one.
So if you like the rawk, stop by and raise a glass to keepin’ on keepin’ on. Also on the bill are Yakuza, KK Rampage, and Dark Fog.
