The first floor of 6018North has been stripped to its studs. The room feels raw and open. This is an appropriate aura for the new Edgewater-based arts initiative run by former Museum of Contemporary Art curator Tricia Van Eck. “When I first started the project, I was thinking about how this space could foster creativity in Chicago,” says Van Eck. “I am specifically interested in sustainability, sound, experimental performance, and installation.” She started 6018 after leaving the MCA last June. She has prodigious plans for the project. However, her visions are currently tempered by the size, and state, of the space.
