My friend Mary Beth Moriarty, I’m pleased to report, is getting out of journalism in one piece, and the New Buffalo Times will go on without her! Moriarty ran the Times for 22 years, dubbed it “the weekly miracle,” kept it going by the skin of her teeth, and last month collapsed from bleeding ulcers. Enough was enough. Moriarty, 56, is newly engaged, and there’s a world beyond southwest Michigan’s Harbor Country that she wants to see with her husband.
