Don't worry—Jar Jar won't be at this week's Star Wars Dinner.

Time to plan the week. Here’s some of what we recommend:

Mon 12/14: Theatre Y’s end-of-the-year fund-raiser I’m Going Back Home includes a preview performance of next year’s surprise show. Check it out tonight at Morgan Street Studios (456 N. Morgan). 7-10 PM

Through 1/31: “Skimption” at the Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art (2320 W. Chicago) features genre-defying work by Diana Gabriel, Emily Hermant, Luis Sahagun, Catherine Schwalbe, and Rusty Shackleford. Kate Sierzputowski writes, “Disparate and without definition, however, is the theme of the exhibition, each artist pulling influences from several mediums instead of focusing exclusively on one.”

Tue 12/15: The lecture series “Homeroom: School Night” presents Self-Portrait in a Kanye Mirror at the Museum of Contemporary Art (220 E. Chicago), a multimedia look at how Yeezus has impacted educators, artists, and all of us really. 6 PM

Tue 12/15: IGDA Chicago hosts the Game Dev Holiday Mixer, a gathering of game developers at Emporium Arcade Bar (1366 N. Milwaukee) to show off their newest creations, all while raising money for the University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children’s Hospital. Toys for the hospital will also be collected throughout the night. Price of admission includes two well drinks and ten tokens. 7-11 PM

Wed 12/16: The Star Wars Dinner is a collaborative meal put together by Scott Manley of Table, Donkey and Stick (2728 W. Armitage), Nathan Sears of the Radler, Lawrence Letrero of Sable, Chris Davies of Homestead, and Caleb Trahan of Bread & Wine, each of whom created a course inspired by one of the six Star Wars films. Reservations required; seatings are between 5:30 and 9:30 PM.

Wed 12/16: The debut of the Recommended Reading series from Women & Children First (5233 N. Clark) features Aleksander Hemon, Gina Frangello, Christine Sneed, Rebecca Makkai, and Eric Charles May discussing their favorite books of the year. There’s also snacks, wine, cider, and live music. 7 PM

Thu 12/17: The Second Annual Curbside Yuletide Book Party at Beauty Bar (1444 W. Chicago) celebrates books published by Chicago authors this year. 7 PM
