This year marks the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth, and so City Lit Theater is mounting a concert reading of Abe Lincoln in Illinois. The 1939 Pulitzer Prize-winner by Robert E. Sherwood (of The Petrified Forest fame) chronicles Lincoln’s life up to his departure for Washington and the presidency. The play is best known in its 1940 film version, which starred Raymond Massey–the Canadian actor who also played Honest Abe on Broadway. It doesn’t get done much anymore since it calls for a cast of 49 actors. It will be interesting to see how it works on City Lit’s intimate stage. Thursday 2/12,  7:30 PM, Edgewater Presbyterian Church, 1020 W. Bryn Mawr, 773-293-3682 or citylit.org, $5.01 (i.e., the Lincoln bill plus the Lincoln coin).
