Street View is a fashion series in which Isa Giallorenzo spotlights some of the coolest styles seen in Chicago.

Hey, don’t get me wrong: I wear my black puffy jacket all the time. But there are plenty of more creative options, like Patrice’s toasty shearling coat. Outerwear is definitely key to a bearable winter, but that doesn’t mean we need to put style on hold for four months. I really don’t understand why affordable stores don’t make more interesting heavy jackets, but there’s an alternative: vintage and thrift shops. After a trip to the cleaners they’re as good as new and often more charming.
