One of my favorite local blogs, A Chicago Sojourn , has been documenting some remarkable church architecture recently. My favorite find: Immaculate Conception Church on W. Talcott, “a completely over-the-top case of Midcentury madness.” The panels depicting war are amazing, but they’re not the only depictions of contemporary chaos he’s documented in local religious design. The mushroom cloud and the history of communication from the dove to scribes to broadcast in the “Onassis Modern” Resurrection Mausoleum in Justice might be even better.
