This week features a charity dinner, an improv show, and plenty more events. Here’s some of what we recommend:

Mon 3/12:
Alok Vaid-Menon is a gender-nonconforming artist who was featured in the HBO documentary The Trans List. The School of the Art Institute (230 S. Columbus) hosts a discussion with Vaid-Menon about their eclectic style, political comedy, and gender binarism. 6 PM, free

Tue 3/13: Audience participation is highly encouraged—and necessary— at Meanwhile: What’s Your Sign? at Delilah’s (2771 N. Lincoln). While storytellers perform onstage, the audience draws and writes whatever they’d like so long as it’s inspired by the show’s theme (this week is astrology). Their work is collected and later released as a zine. 7-9 PM, free

Tue 3/13: Top Notch Tuesdays at Laugh Out Loud (3851 N. Lincoln) opens with improv academy students and graduates and ends with veteran comics. The Reader’s Justin Hayford calls the show “near foolproof,” with both new and seasoned performers creating hilarious and unexpected scenes. 8;30 PM, $5, free with improv student ID

Wed 3/14: Chicago chefs from the Purple Pig, Gale Street Inn, and more come together for an evening of food during Recipe for Relief at the Lakewood (1758 W. Lake). The money raised will support restaurants and other industries in Puerto Rico. Those unable to attend can still donate through GoFundMe. 6-9 PM, $75 (includes open bar)

Thu 3/15: Jeezy’s Juke Joint celebrates its seventh season of bringing black and queer entertainment to the midwest. Have a booze- and music-filled good time at the Hot Box, an event that’s part burlesque show, part queer strip club, and part dance party. The event is held at VAM Studio (1621 N. Kedzie). 9 PM-1 AM, $30

Trixie Mattel, who is competing on the show, is one of the hosts for RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 3 Viewing Party 3/15.

Thu 3/15: Drag race enthusiasts are no doubt familiar with fan favorite contestants Trixie Mattel and Willam, who will host the RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 3 Viewing Party at Roscoe’s Tavern (3356 N. Halsted). It’s a night of sass, surprises, and glitter.
