Adam Dunn had a dynamite Fourth of July against the Royals at the Cell. He sent a flare to right early in the game to end an 0 for 19 streak, bringing the fans to their feet as they exploded in a Bronx cheer. Dunn doffed his helmet from first base, winning over the crowd. In the eighth, a big breeze lifted a Big Breeze fly just over the right-field fence, and the White Sox went on to a thrilling victory. Dunn and his team had finally turned a corner.

But there was only more misery on the other side. The Sox dropped the next three, as Dunn went 0 for 11, with eight more Ks.

On the plus side, it was announced yesterday that the Big Breeze will represent the American League in the strikeout derby before Tuesday’s all-star game.
