Nice article in this week’s Chicago Journal on Revolution Brewing, the nascent brewery and restaurant from Handlebar owner Josh Deth. Actual beer is still a ways away–right now Deth is concentrating on drumming up investors and finalizing the purchase of the future brewhouse at 2323 N. Milwaukee. And there’s sure to be some controversy over his request for $490,000 in TIF monies to fund the project. But Deth is nothing if not determined, and given his track record and connections (until recently he was also the executive director of the Logan Square Chamber of Commerce, which was responsible for, among other things, the independent Logan Square Farmers’ Market) there’s little reason to doubt he can pull this latest trick off.
ETA: Deth writes in to say that thanks to the Journal article he’s already had a bunch more nibbles from possible investors. So, there you go.
Also, clicking around on the Revolution Web site led me to a post on the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild site announcing the fifth annual Festival of Wood- and Barrel-Aged Beer at Goose Island Wrigleyville. It’s not till November 3, but tickets are going fast. Thirty bucks gets you a tasting glass and the opportunity to try 12 of more than 70 unique beers from 28 or so local and national brewers (from Flossmoor Station to, uh, Anheuser-Busch).
