Like plenty of his peers, local actor and playwright David Roby (he played the Marquess of Queensbury in Bohemian Theatre Ensemble’s production of Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde last year) doesn’t have health insurance. He now faces a medical crisis, and his friends are throwing a benefit to help raise at least $6,000 for surgery. Suggested donation: $50. Food and drinks will be served (it’s BYO for beer and wine) and “some musician friends” of Roby’s are performing. Contributions are also being taken via Paypal. The benefit takes place Mon 9/8, 7 PM, Lincoln Square Theatre, Berry Memorial United Methodist Church, 4754 N. Leavitt, 773-275-7930.
