Will Schutz, a veteran Chicago actor with credits at City Lit, the Side Project, and many other fringe stalwarts, has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer–and, like so many freelance artists, doesn’t have health insurance. Friends are getting together with several efforts to raise money for his treatment.
Hydrate, 3458 N. Halsted, hosts a benefit Friday, January 23, 9-11 PM. It’s officially pay-what-you-can for an open bar, appetizers, and live entertainment, but the suggested donation is $20.
Then, on Saturday, January 31, 7:30 PM, there’s a performance of The Game Show Show and Stuff, with half of the proceeds going to Schutz. It’s at the Lakeshore Theater, 3175 N. Broadway, and tickets are $15-$20 in advance, $20-$25 at the door. Call 773-472-3492.
Finally, if you want to skip the socializing and just make a donation, go to willschutzpancan.chipin.com.
