Adult Easter Egg Hunt at Longman & Eagle Credit: Carolina M. Rodriguez

Traditional Easter and Passover traditions are all well and good, but for those looking for more, here are our picks for atypical ways to celebrate:

Fri 3/30:
At the appropriately named Marshmallow Drop, thousands of marshmallows rain down from a helicopter onto James Park (Oakton and Dodge, Evanston), with three separate drops for different age ranges. Prizes are given for most marshmallows collected. Also, don’t eat them. 11 AM-noon, free

Sat 3/31: Climb your way to Easter eggs placed high atop the climbing walls of Brooklyn Boulders (100 S. Morgan) at BKB Eggstravaganza Vertical Egg Hunt. Adults are welcome to join kids on the wall—if they wanna one-up a 12-year-old, that is. 9 AM-noon, $20

Sat 3/31: Celebrate the second evening of Passover at Second City’s deMaat Theatre (230 N. Wells) with the comedic character Merriam Levkowitz, a Jewish grandmother who “sings pop and disco parodies about her three grown children while discussing her upcoming Passover Seder.” 7 PM, $13

Sun 4/1: In support of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Rape Victims Advocates (RVA) throws an Easter brunch at the Empty Bottle (1035 N. Western) to raise money for trauma resources and legal services. DJ Ruby Des Jardins, a volunteer at RVA, spins tracks. 11 AM, donations accepted

Sun 4/1: Search Logan Square at the Adult Easter Egg Hunt, put on by Longman & Eagle (2657 N. Kedzie), to win prizes from Jim Beam, Revolution Brewing and more. After the two-hour hunt, celebrate with food and drinks at a block party. Proceeds benefit One Tail at a Time, a pet adoption center. Noon-4 PM, $5

Sun 4/1: Forget communion wafers. Today’s Easter brunch at HopCat (2577 N. Clark) includes mac-and-cheese sandwiches, White Russian-inspired waffles, and a Bloody Mary bar. 10 AM-3 PM, various prices

Sun 4/1: Grab six buddies, lace up cleats, and spend Easter competing at Easter Basket Soccer Tournament, a seven-versus-seven indoor soccer bout. Each team is guaranteed at least three games, and prizes are awarded at the end. Games kick off at CIBC Fire Pitch (3626 N. Talman). 2:30-7:30 PM, $30

Sun 4/1: In the Easter-only sketch show He Is Risen, playing at the Annoyance Theatre (851 W. Belmont), four pastors from the fictional Trembling Mountain Church preach the good word. Expect sacrilege. 8 PM, $8
