The Chicago Artists Coalition, which has been through a couple of rocky years, announced this week that its new executive director is Carolina Jayaram, who joined the CAC as part-time development director last fall. Jayaram, a lawyer, is a cofounder of Miami-based Legal Art, which provides support services for artists, and previously worked at Arts Alliance Illinois as director of policy and research.
Also from the CAC: January 29 is the submission deadline for the annual Chicago Art Open, running this year April 21-May 8 at River East Art Center. It’s open to all local visual artists.
