- CTU will reportedly kick out members who cross the picket line April 1
The Chicago Teachers Union is planning a massive April 1 walkout, and although almost 80 percent of CTU delegates approved the one-day strike, not every teacher agrees with the plan. One anonymous teacher told DNAinfo Chicago’s Mark Konkol that she plans to show up to teach Friday, and that when she announced her intention, she was told she’d be kicked out of the union if she followed through. “I’d rather just be out of the union unless there’s some major turnaround where [union action] wasn’t such a battle of egos with a political agenda,” she said. - Blackhawks earn eighth-straight playoff spot in win over Vancouver Canucks

- Rod Blagojevich appeal rejected by U.S. Supreme Court
The U.S. Supreme Court turned down former governor and Celebrity Apprentice contestant Rod Blagojevich’s last shot at overturning his conviction. An appellate panel of judges threw out five of the disgraced governor’s 18 criminal convictions and called for a resentencing in 2015. It’s unclear whether his 14-year prison sentence will be lightened by a U.S. district court judge after SCOTUS’s decision. [Sun-Times]
- Rahm’s surprise pick for top cop is a high-ranking CPD official
Reports circulated over the weekend that Mayor Rahm Emanuel had tossed out the Chicago Police Board-recommended three finalists for the Chicago Police Department’s superintendent job in favor of Chicago native and CPD chief of patrol Eddie Johnson. He’s expected to announce the decision Monday. City Hall reportedly hopes the decision will enable them to make peace with the City Council’s Black and Latino Caucuses and rebuild trust between Chicagoans and the police. [Politico]
