- There have been at least 775 shootings in Chicago in 2016
Gun violence has increased by a shocking 80 percent in the first three months of 2016. At the end of March last year, 419 people had been shot in the city; this year, that number has risen to at least 775 as of Monday. It’s no secret that the Bulls are a disaster right now. They’re inching toward the end of a disappointing season and are in serious danger of not reaching the playoffs. - Chicago Public Schools announces contingency sites for April 1 CTU strike
The Chicago Teachers Union is set to strike Friday. While teachers picket schools and take part in a rally in the Loop during the one-day walkout, CPS will open more than 250 schools, parks, and libraries for students and provide free breakfast, lunch, and CTA transportation. [Sun-Times]
- Donald Trump Jr. is sorry for misidentifying suburban woman in infamous Nazi salute photo
A photo of Yorkville resident and Trump supporter Birgitt Peterson giving a Nazi salute outside the candidate’s canceled UIC Pavilion rally went viral. The GOP front-runner’s son Donald Trump Jr. retweeted a report on Twitter claiming that the woman in the photo was a Sanders supporter named Portia Boulger.
