Kentucky Fried Chicken–back to claiming its “fried” heritage now that the 90s are over–has unveiled its first revamped logo in almost ten years. According to the company, it’s supposed to stress–with the addition of a red apron over his famous string tie–that Sanders was actually a chef. Other than the fact that because he’s been gone longer we’re presumably more comfortable thinking of this phantom dead guy cooking our food, what else about the colonel has changed?  He seems younger, less southern (pompadour is now more of a combover), more graphic, more engaged and cheerful-looking. He’s come down a bit from the bucket, as it were. Oh, and he’s more tilty. (See logo chronology below.)        

Also, in what would seem to be severe violation of post no bills laws, note that you can now see the new KFC logo from above the earth. The company claims to have created “the world’s first brand visible from outer space” by installing a huge version of the logo made from 65,000 one-foot-square painted tiles in Area 51. “The giant Colonel Sanders logo was built off The World’s Only Extraterrestrial Highway in Rachel, Nevada, also known as the ‘UFO Capital of the World,’ and the epicenter of inter-galactic communication,” reads the informatively surreal press release.
